Our Kingsley Road/Alt St project is an award-winning collection of 32 affordable new homes in the Granby-Toxteth area of Liverpool, created in partnership with leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group. The homes were built on land that was generously donated to our charity by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool in 2002.
The homes were built mostly by volunteers and the Home Partners themselves under the guidance and supervision of a dedicated staff team and qualified trade people. Working together in this way helps to create a strong and cohesive community with real neighbourly spirit.
Our home partners spend at least 500 hours working on site or supporting the charity in a range of other ways, in return for a £10,000 reduction in the cost of their new home. Our focus is on helping those who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to get on to the property ladder and we have a comprehensive procedure for selecting families.
Homes were purchased on a shared ownership basis and Sanctuary Group owns the residual equity in the homes and provides housing management services, for which our home owners pay rent. Properties were competitively priced at £118,000 for a mid-terrace and £125,000 for an end-terrace home.
The homes on Alt St are situated within a brand new cul-de-sac (an extension of Alternate Street), and have been designed as three-bedroom houses with a pre-designed space for a fourth attic bedroom. They also include a modern fully fitted kitchen, a lounge with patio doors to the rear garden, block paved patio area in rear garden, and front driveway/garden with block paved car parking space.
